hort Summary
The analysis presented here summarizes carbon emissions
and changes in those emissions by end-use in residential and commercial
buildings. It demonstrates that the single most important area in the buildings
sector is the "miscellaneous electricity" end-use. Eliminating
growth in this end-use would suffice to keep buildings sector carbon emissions
at 1990 levels through 2010. Reductions in all end-uses can be achieved
by implementing efficiency standards, research and development, and market
conditioning strategies. |
