Etan Gumerman joined the Energy Analysis Program in January 1999. He has a joint appointment with the End-Use forecasting Group and the Transportation Group. Recent work is centered on the analysis of States' Automobile Inspection and Maintenance Programs, particularly states with centralized testing.

Etan came to LBNL after spending a couple of years as the lead modeler at Hill and Associates. In addition to analyses of large data sets, he was responsible for the National Power Model(TM) and UFEM models, a utility dispatch model and a power plant fuel choice model respectively, which have in recent years become very attractive to a wide range of public and private parties as deregulation and new environmental legislation affect strategic planning.

Etan earned a M.S. in Engineering and Policy from Washington University - St. Louis and a B.A. in Environmental Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.
