Hirohisa Aki is a visiting scholar of Forecasting group within the Environmental Energy Technologies Division. He is originally a Senior Research Scientist with National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) in Tsukuba Science City, Japan. He has also 5 years experience of plant engineering with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. before joining to AIST.
He has worked on distributed energy resource (DER) based energy system design and analyses especially in residential area, and published a number of papers on residential fuel cells, hydrogen energy systems. The demonstration of hydrogen based energy system at an apartment building which involves six apartments and three PEM fuel cells and shares electricity, heat, and hydrogen is being conducted in Osaka, Japan at present.
He holds BS and MS in electrical engineering from Osaka University and PhD in electrical and computing engineering from Yokohama National University in Japan.
