Energy End-Use Forecasting

What people are saying about the work of the Enduse Forecasting team...

Given all he gets done, Koomey must work ten hours for every four hours he bills.

The late Eric Petersen, U.S. Department of Energy, 1999.

I want to thank you for the ongoing LBL-EPRI relationship regarding end-use energy forecasting models. The LBL end-use forecasting team's assistance in the development, refinement, and testing of the models has been very helpful. Perhaps more important, however, has been the help with the technology data that are critical to the use of the end-use models.

The long-standing LBL-EPRI relationship has greatly improved the forecasting abilities of the electric power industry. With the resulting end-use models and associated databases, utilities can more easily integrate the impacts of demand-side management programs, efficiency standards, and new technologies into their long-term forecasts.

Phil Hanser of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), in an October 19, 1993 letter to Mark Levine, then head of the Energy Analysis Program.

Just a quick reaction to the Virtual Home Energy Advisor: Terrific! Have only run a couple of quick houses to get the feel for it, but it looks like it is going to be very useful for the energy efficient buildings course that I teach at Stanford. Thank you.

Prof. Gil Masters, Stanford University

Thanks for letting me use your Home Energy Saver module. It is one of the government services that make paying taxes worthwhile.

Nick Wilder, Wheat Ridge, Colorado

I found the Lighting Market Sourcebook well done and an excellent piece of work. You people picked up lots of information that I could not find from other sources.

Rudy Verderber, Ph.D., March 10, 1998.

I wanted to thank you and your team for your work on the energy implications of the Internet economy. I needed accurate analysis of the problem (not just data) and your web page provided this clearly. The high level analysis was what I needed to clarify the issue for the Advanced Lighting Guidelines revision that we are currently working on, and the spreadsheet backgrounder had all the detailed analysis and assumptions. Well done!
